Today there was a fascinating news item about “synthetic biology” on TV, it’s the next step up from genetically modified crops. It could mean genetically modified just about anything.
The report mentioned that British scientists are working on inserting artificial DNA into cells from different living organisms to produce:fuels, medicines, vaccines and more.
The possibilities are endless, new materials, new functions for modified materials, imagine if plastics could be developed that repaired themselves.
We certainly live in interesting times.
Technology is advancing so quickly that it seems to be changing huge areas of our lives, not just how we use social media for small businesses.
Today I am taking a shortcut with this post. I debated whether to post an article about apps and technology by a guest blogger here or on my main blog. The main blog won because I thought that the article had a wider scope than social media.
Read it here Peter Wrights Blog.
I also published a post on my Empower Network blog about social media being a double-edged sword for marketers and marketing strategy. Another example of how so much in the world has changed in a short time.

Everything we do has cause and affect issues. While it appears that science is taking some mighty big leaps lately the question is should they be doing what they are doing? This would relate to social media as well as most any other point. Just because the power is available to do something doesn’t mean that something should be done. In all areas including social media we must take a serious look at what we are doing before it is to late and we find ourselves beyond pain relief from what has been done.
